The purpose of the Northbay Girls Softball League (NBGSL) is to provide girls and young women with a recreational athletic program that is a fun and enjoyable experience. It will help build personal confidence and self-esteem, teach the fundamental skills of the game of softball, teamwork, good sportsmanship, and citizenship, and strive to bring people together in friendship and competition.

Objectives & Expected Level Of Play By Division
The age to determine the correct division placement of your player is their age as of AUGUST 31, 2025. The registration system will automatically place them in the correct division.
6U
This is for 4, 5 and 6 year old players and utilizes a coach as the pitcher. This is the introduction stage to the sport. Meant to be fun and exciting.
8U
This is for 7 and 8 year old players (2nd and 3rd Graders). Basic skills & understanding of the game; introduction to player pitch. This is 60' bases and 30' pitching.
10U
This is for ages 9 and 10 (4th and 5th graders). The beginnings of real softball play with rules closer to USA Softball. This has player pitch, lead offs and steals. This is 60' bases and 35' pitching.
12U
This is for 11 and 12 year old players (6th and 7th Graders). This is 60' bases and 40' pitching. This is full USA softball rules.
14U
This is for 13 and 14 year old players (8th Graders). This is 60' bases and 43' pitching distance. This is full on softball. Preparation for high school softball the following year.
Travel Ball
Our Northbay Girls Softball League proudly represents a local youth fastpitch softball team known as the Santa Rosa Red Barons. This program is dedicated to the skill and social development of girls from ages 8 and up.
Travel ball is a step up from playing recreational softball. These competitive travel teams play during the summer and fall and practice year-round.
The goal of Santa Rosa Red Barons is to further develop girls' softball skills, provide a higher level of competition, and continue to make softball an enjoyable experience.
